I started baking knee high next to my mum, we would bake a cake together every weekend using recipes from my nana and mums great aunt and all of us would enjoy a slice each day of the week… Sadly I don’t do that now as my waistline doesn’t appreciate it!
Birthdays were celebrated with fantastic creations that made my imagination run wild from fairytale castles to a princess in a ballgown with butterfly wings!
Christmas preparations started early with the baking of a fruit cake and the steady feeding as Christmas drew near and then we got to play with fondant icing!
I grew up and tried out new recipes and techniques sometimes successful others less so. I always kept my family recipes close, often baking for friends who love my light sponges and goey Lemon Drizzle- that one sparked a proposal of marriage after one bite once!
I now love to create werid and wonderful cakes for special occasions. Cakes that make the day special and that will be devoured and remembered. Everyone is unique and so should their celebration cake be!
